Getting to Bonampak presents difficulties to the traveler not wishing to take a tour. It is 148 km from Palenque, which means at least a 3-hour journey. You can check the various 3rd class bus stations in Palenque to find available times for departure. We had great difficulty in finding a bus to take us Bonampak and could only find a bus that would take us to Crucero Corozal an intersection close to the site. We then hitchhiked the rest of the way. For this reason we recommend using a tour company. To drive there you take highway 199 located at the east end of Palenque and follow the signs. |
No one would think it, but 100s are the most complex of all the numbers. According to them, they reflect good taste and exclusivity. "To be one of the 100s, " they say, "is a sign of superior taste and linage." This arrogance is reflected in the 100s' daily behavior. Number 101, for example, believes he is unique and original, seeing himself as alpha and omega. The rest share his sentiment. "After us, there are only commoners," goes the slogan of the 100 Club, which as its number indicates, has only 100 members.
