CHIAPAS FAQ

Q: What is the weather like?

A: In Palenque it is generally hot all year round. In the summer it is realyl hot but you have the rains to cool things down. The rains come in June - August.

A: Around San Cristobal it is cool in the morning, hot during the day and cool at night. Cool as in you need a jacket.

Q: How do I find bus schedules?

A: This is not easy. The bus companies do not post their schedules on the Internet and getting the schedules from every bus station is difficult for any single organization. The only way to know is to go to a bus station in Chiapas and look.

Q: What is the best ruin site to visit?

A: Many would agree that if you were to visit only one site in Chiapas that it should be Palenque.

Q: When is the best time to go?

A: This is of course a matter of personal preference however we have found for several reasons that the best time to go is right after the rainy season in September.

Q: Can I take my dog?

A: Yes however the buses will not let dogs on nor will most collectivos.

Q: Are there campsites?

A: Yes there are campsites next to or near every ruin site or natural attraction in Chiapas. These range from cabanas to palapas to tent spots.

Q: Are there hotels with swimming pools?

A: Yes, every major city in Chiapas has at least one hotel with a swimming pool. These hotels are of course generally more expensive.

Q: What are the Zapatistas?

A: Marcos: "In the movement of the EZLN there is no perfectly defined ideology, in the sense of communist or Marxist-Leninist." "It is not a nucleus that has come, not a guerrilla foco; what has come is something you have never in your life dreamed of: this is the truth."

Cut from the inverse side, a mirror ceases to be a mirror and becomes a glass. Mirrors are for looking on this side, and glass is made to look to the other side.
Mirrors are made to be etched.
A glass is made to be broken... to cross to the other side...

P.S.   The image of the real or the unreal, which searches among so many mirrors, for a glass to break.
